Julien's passion for photography started at an early age when a family friend and photographer returned from an assignment in Brazil and invited him to a slide night.
At 12 years old Julien bought an old 35mm Russian camera and was later given some black & white darkroom equipment - he spent endless hours in the loft mastering the techniques of black + White photography.
This inspired Julien to study photography at school for 2 years and at the same time attending evening classes at the local Tafe. After finishing school he then pursued further studies and completed a two year college diploma in photography and TV communications. Whilst studying to advanced levels he worked part-time as a studio assistant for a fashion photographer followed by full time photographic assistant for a commercial photographer in London gaining valuable skills and experience in the corporate and commercial industry.
Julien was then lucky enough to travel the world working as an international cruise ship photographer where he progressed quickly to photographic manager then technical advisor/photographic trainer, enjoying his work and the adventure it gave him. After taking a years sabbatical to sail across the pacific on his 30ft yacht, and pursue his desire for travel, Julien then returned to London where he was engaged as Photographic Concessionaire Manager for Cunard White Star Lines.
In 1996, Julien settled in Brisbane with his wife and was employed as Regional Manager with the Australian division of an International Event Photography Company followed by a contract as Architectural Photographer/Audio Visual Presenter for a Gold Coast based Productions Company.
Since the beginning of the new millennium Julien has been freelancing to a wide variety of corporate, commercial and domestic clients, running his own boutique studio and gallery. Most of Julien's clientele to date are through recommendations from happy and satisfied customers. AIPP member.
