Jock and Joan Kennedy - their memory lives on.

Community InfoOn Saturday 11th February, Jock and Joan Kennedy's 6 children returned to Russel Island, which was, from mid 40s to early 60s, their happy childhood home. After a picnic morning tea in "Jock Kennedy Park" (waterside land the Kennedys bequeathed for parkland to Redlands Council when they left the Island) great grandchildren splashed happily at the end of the boat ramp, while Rodney, Rosemary, Susan, Jane, Andrew and Daniel, along with their spouses boated out to "The Deep Hole" (Jock's best loved to fish spot). Here, with reminiscences of their heritage in two wonderful parents, they floating flowers around and lowered their loved ones combined ashes into the water.

Jock and Joan Kennedy were well loved, 'servant spirited' members of Wynnum/Manly community for almost 40 years. After celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary last June, Joan at 95 years, reached her "Glory Day", (as some of herfamily like to term it) on August 20th 2011. Life was not easy for Jock (96) without her and, mercifully, they were 'reunited' on January 2nd of this year as he too 'graduated' to a 'higher life'.

Though missed, family, as well as many members of the community, give thanks for the impact that the love of these two wonderful people had on so many lives.
