Last Sunday the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron located at the end of the Manly Esplanade enjoyed the privilege of hosting the Sunday Mail Sailfest, Queensland's biggest display of sailing craft, marine hardware, marine electronics and safety equipment. The Sailfest surpassed all expectations proving to be a great success despite the high winds and overcast sky. Excellent organization as well as limitless enthusiasm proved essential to the success of this sailing smorgasbord.
Visitors to the event were able to inspect yachts and other sailing craft ranging in value from $500 to $500 000. Every aspect of sailing was catered for with over 45 exhibitors. These included sailing craft, electronics, hardware, safety equipment, clothing, as well as interesting activities and demonstrations. While those with a keen interest in sailing greatly enjoyed and appreciated the event, the success of the Sailfest was sure to stir curiosity within anyone who had the opportunity of witnessing the impressive display.
