Health: It's 'Healthy Living' in Wynnum Manly

EventsNow we all know the secret to a healthy lifestyle, eat well and exercise, right?
Then why do we sometimes find it so hard to stick by this rule? The Health and Wellbeing expo held last Sunday, 28th May, with its array of guest speakers and stalls provided excellent motivation and great tips to keep you on track.
A busy day for the Wynnum Manly foreshore, people flocked to the area to experience this years Health and Wellbeing expo. The day began at a bright and early 7:30am, with a 4 km fun run/walk along the Esplanade in which around 200 people from the area participated.

Manly Health Expo
Dr Ed Kearney and Chloe from the Marina Dental Centre
The expo held in conjunction with the Sunday markets, consisted of a variety of guest speakers and stalls from local businesses dedicated to healthy living. The aim of the event was to encourage people down a path of healthy living and to inform people of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
Stalls ranged from Shes Soul Kinesiology to Bowen therapy by Bowtech to Naturally Healthy Health Foods. Bay View Family Chiropractic offered free spinal screenings while Clean Fresh Air displayed their latest personal air treatment system.
In a promotion of this years theme, Age and Longevity, guest speakers gathered to talk about and offer advice on preserving and looking after yourself while physically maturing.
Talks were delivered on everything from staying young with Yoga to strength training with Revolution Fitness. Dr Ed Kearney from the Marina Dental Centre also talked about dental health alongside Tien Chuc from the Manly Village Pharmacy who discussed arthritis, and bone and joint health. A Pilate’s demonstration by Lifestyle Physical Therapies showed how to achieve improved posture and core stability.
The morning was a great success and it was inspiring to see so many people taking an active interest in their health and wellbeing
For further information concerning these annual expos contact the Manly Precinct Co-Coordinator Carolanne Tapping on 0400 161 517.
