 | Walking: Putting a Sizzle in Their Step |
Christmas cake, bonbons and sizzling sausages awaited Walking for Pleasure Brisbane Inc walkers at the Lota Camping Reserve last week. Fifty five members from all over Brisbane stepped out from Wynnum Railway Station to walk along the foreshore to Lota where 85 gathered as part of this year’s Christmas celebrations. This week another 90 walkers shared a Christmas Luncheon at the Sherwood Services Club. W4P President Elaine Wickings told the assembled guests that 2004 had been a very busy and successful year. At the end of November the group had 230 financial members and in the month of September over 557 people had attended walks. The monthly sausage sizzles held in park venues all around Brisbane at the conclusion of a 10.00am walk were well attended. She added that W4P Outdoor Adventures, Day Walks, camps and safaris, many in National Parks, including The Kimberley, Mackay, Tenterfield and Carnarvon Gorge had been very successful.
