 | Greens: From Bayside to Baxter |
The Bayside Branch of the Queensland Greens is sponsoring a seat on the bus from Brisbane to the Baxter 05 Convergence for a student or unemployed person who has access to a video camera and is happy to videotape the Greens’ involvement.
The national convergence on Baxter Detention Centre is a demonstration against long-term detention of asylum seekers, some of whom have been behind bars for 6 years.

 | Greens: Meet The Greens candidate at Chandler Markets |
The Greens candidate for Bonner, Elissa Jenkins, will be available to meet with local residents at the Chandler Markets this Sunday, August 29.
Aiming to attend the markets on a fortnightly basis up until election day, Elissa said the markets were a great way to find out what’s happening in the area.
It seems like the election will either be October or November now, so the 4am starts over a long period might be hard yakka, but it’s well worth the effort.
It was a great forum to listen to people’s concerns and the information I received from those who came up and chatted last fortnight was invaluable.
It has given me a taste of what it really means to be a federal representative – and that mainly involves keeping my ear to the ground, she said.
Elissa invites local residents to pop in and say hello on Sunday August 29 from 6am to 1pm.
