Pamela Hunter, a member of the Writers of Wynnum Manly achieved her dream of having her first book published. Not only did she write the story, based on her own life growing up in Queensland but Pamela illustrated the book too. The blurb on the cover reads “Step right up and accompany Claire Meredith on her search for success. See her as a little girl wearing the backside out of her pants as she and her sister slide down the bark from trees felled by her father in Jimna State forest. Then later, as an eighteen year old, travelling by steam train to Victoria after joining the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps.” The book, titled “Don’t Tell Me What to Do” is currently available at magellanbooks.com/pamhunter.html
