Beach Party

On your own on Christmas Day?

Will you be on your own on Christmas Day? If so you are invited to a Christmas Day lunch (including Christmas pudding).
This is an annual event, organised by Bayside Uniting Church, 420 Wondall Rd, Manly West, for the Bayside community. Doors open at 11.30 am for 12 noon lunch.

There is no charge, but any voluntary donations offered will be accepted.

RSVP by noon Monday 18 December, to Bayside Uniting Church office, phone 3890 2392, with your name, address and phone number and whether you require transport.

Library Amnesty 2017

The Council Libraries are again in the Christmas spirit by offering to waive outstanding library fees during December.

Customers who present their overdue books at a library during December will have their overdue fines, processing and holds fees waived in exchange for a donation of canned food. If you have already returned your books, but have incurred overdue fees, you can also have these fees waived in exchange for a can of food.

This year, Council’s library amnesty will donate all food to Foodbank Queensland, an organisation that distributes food to charities and community organisations who assist those in need.

Perishable food items cannot be accepted.
Visit the Wynnum Library in Florence Street between 1-31 December 2017 with your overdue books and a donation of canned food.
Residents without outstanding library fees are also welcome to provide donations of canned food/goods at their local library to help spread Christmas cheer to those in need.

Kerbside CleanUp

Brisbane City Council's kerbside collection is an annual service across all suburbs in Brisbane to help you dispose of large household items.
The collections are held on a specific week for each suburb. You will be notified of your collection week with a flyer delivered to your property at least one week before the collection starts in your suburb.


You can also receive free reminders before your kerbside collection by downloading Council’s free Brisbane Bin and Recycling app and keeping the push notifications enabled.
Ensure you check what items are accepted as part of this large item collection service and find out about other resource recovery options for large household items in usable condition.


Items for collection must be placed on the kerbside in front of the property by 6am on the first day of the collection period.

Items must be small enough to be lifted manually by 2 people. They must be left on your footpath on the weekend prior to date of collection. No garden clippings.

50th Gem Show

This year – 2017 - we will be holding our 50th Gem Show so come along on Saturday 26th August. Opening time will be 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Hemmant Community Hall, Hemmant-Tingalpa Rd, Hemmant. Traders and tailgaters will be displaying precious and semi-precious gemstones. Opals, crystal, fossils minerals, jewellery, beads and findings, lapidary supplies, tools, equipment and handicraft. Club members will be showcasing their talent with a display of handmade jewellery, cabochons and collections. Our club table will be covered with homemade jams, pickle and delicious cakes. Refreshment are available at our Soft Rock Cafe. Buy a ticket in the raffle of beautiful jewellery made by our members. Something for everyone – all tastes, all ages, all budgets, Admission $4 Pensioners, $3. Under 12 free.

Quandamooka Festival

The Quandamooka Festival has commenced with celebrations across the Bayside Districts of Wynnum, Redlands and Stradbroke Island.

On Saturday, July 22 the Winnam NAIDOC Kunjiel Corroboree is here at the Wynnum Wading Pool area.
This year the celebrations are bigger and better with additional market stalls on the foreshore, family and kids activities and a short film festival. Starting at 10am until 8pm there is something for everyone. The event is free and a drug and alcohol free area. Justice of the Peace

The Wynnum Manly Branch of the Queensland Justices Association who volunteer their JP skills are back in the new Wynnum Library for 2017.

Volunteer JP's are at the Wynnum Library every Thursday night between 5:45pm and 7:45pm and Saturdays between 10am and 12noon. They are also at Wynnum Plaza on a Saturday between 10am and 12noon.
